Stair Refinishing & Treads in Northern Virginia

Stairs take more daily wear than almost any other part of a home, and mismatched treads stand out next to new flooring. Flooring Force replaces or refinishes stair treads to match your new or existing floor, repairing risers and stringers along the way.

Stair Refinishing & Treads questions

How much does stair refinishing & treads cost?▸

The typical Northern Virginia reference range is $1,500–$5,000. Stair treads and refinishing matched to new or existing flooring. Your price depends on scope, materials and site conditions. Request an estimate for a number specific to your project.

Who actually does the work?▸

Flooring Force is a division of Kenney Construction — the same licensed, insured, and bonded company (VA DPOR #2705187519) handles the work, not a subcontracted third party.

What areas do you serve?▸

Herndon, Reston, Great Falls, McLean, Vienna, Ashburn, Sterling, Aldie, Oakton, Chantilly, Centreville, and South Riding, Virginia.

What are your hours?▸

Monday – Saturday, 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM.

Do you provide written estimates?▸

Yes — every project gets a written scope so you know what's included before work starts.

Can my hardwood floors be refinished instead of replaced?▸

Often, yes. If the boards themselves are in good shape, sanding and refinishing gets a new look for less than full replacement. We evaluate the condition of your floors before recommending either.

What's the difference between engineered wood and solid hardwood flooring?▸

Solid hardwood is a single piece of wood through its full thickness and can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its life. Engineered wood has a real wood veneer over a plywood base — more stable in humidity but with fewer refinishing cycles.

Does my subfloor need to be repaired before new flooring goes in?▸

It depends on its condition — an uneven or damaged subfloor needs leveling or repair first, or the new flooring won't sit right. We check the subfloor as part of the project before installation.

How do I request a flooring estimate?▸

Call (703) 731-9208 or submit the online estimate form and we'll follow up to schedule a time.
